I Com Caac vivono nella splendida localita’ di Punta Chueca, sulla costa “sonorense” del mar di Cortez. Sono circondati dai pittoreschi Cactus giganti e dal mare. Di fronte alle loro spiagge spunta l’isola Tiburon (squalo). Fino a 30 anni fa ne erano i proprietari, ora la dividono con lo stato, che in cambio gli offre case, luce e acqua. I Com Caac hanno un loro governo e corpo militare, ma purtroppo non hanno un sistema di smaltimento rifiuti, c’e’ plastica ovunque. Festeggiano il loro capodanno a fine giugno, a questa festa accorrono migliaia di turisti e si svolgono giochi ancestrali e canti che raccontano la loro storia che e’ da sempre tramandata oralmente. A tutti viene offerta la loro famosa zuppa di tartaruga.
The Com Caac people lives in the beautiful location of Punta Chueca, on the Sonora’s coast of the Sea of Cortez. They are surrounded by the scenic Giant Cactus and sea. Faced with their beaches tick the Tiburon (shark) island. Up to 30 years ago they where the owners of the island, now they share it with the state, which in return provides houses, electricity and water. The Com Caac have their own government and army, but unfortunately they do not have a waste disposal system, there’s plastic everywhere. They celebrate their New Year in late June, this festival attracts thousands of tourists and are held ancestral games and songs that tell their story wich always has been handed down orally. They offered everyone their famous turtle soup.
