Lo Special Air Service (Servizio Aereo Speciale in lingua italiana), noto anche come SAS, è il principale corpo speciale dell’esercito britannico. Questa unità fu fondata nel 1941 in Nord Africa per effettuare raid contro le linee dell’Asse, ed è oggi un modello per molte altre forze simili nel mondo. Il SAS è il più piccolo e segreto reggimento del Regno Unito ma ne è allo stesso tempo uno tra i più popolari, è stata la prima forza speciale al mondo a specializzarsi anche nell’antiterrorismo e salvataggio ostaggi negli anni ’70.
The Special Air Service, also known as SAS, is the main unit of the British army special corps. This unit was founded in 1941 in North Africa to carry out raids against the Axis lines, and is now a model for many other similar forces in the world. The SAS is the smallest and secret regiment of the United Kingdom but is also one of the most popular, was the first special force in the world to specialize in counterterrorism and also hostages rescue in the 70s.
